Patient Rights

  1. Receive a written copy of the Patient and Family Bill of Rights from the reception.

  2. Receive impartial care that respects your personal values and beliefs from all staff without discrimination, in accordance with DHA rules and regulations.

  3. Receive comprehensive medical care aimed at achieving accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment of your illness and/or injury.

  4. Receive immediate medical attention in emergency situations.

  5. Know the identity (name and specialty) of the physician responsible for your care.

  6. Receive from the healthcare team, in a clear and understandable manner, comprehensive information about your – diagnosis, proposed treatment, any changes in your health status and causes of such changes, alternative treatment, probabilities of treatment success or failure, therapy advantages and disadvantages (if any), possible problems related to treatment and expected results of ignoring the treatment.

  7. Have access to an interpreter if language is a barrier to understanding your medical care.

  8. Have a person of the same sex present during certain parts of physical examination, treatment, or procedures performed by a health professional of the opposite sex.

  9. Not remain disrobed any longer than necessary for medical purposes.

  10. Participate in decision-making related to your care.

  11. Obtain a medical report and copies of your medical test results from the medical records section.

  12. Enjoy privacy during all examinations, procedures, and treatments, and have the confidentiality of all your medical information maintained.

  13. Choose your treating doctor (subject to availability), and have the right to reject the doctor by providing a genuine reason.

  14. Refuse treatment if you wish. The treating doctor must explain the medical consequences, and you will be required to sign a refusal form.

  15. Refuse examination or access to your treatment details by anyone not directly involved in your care, unless prior permission is granted by you.

  16. Be protected from any physical, verbal, or psychological abuse during treatment.

  17. Receive complete information from the treating doctor.

  18. Have a family member or guardian accompany you, depending on your health status and DHA regulations (note: some units may restrict this for medical reasons).

  19. Receive a complete explanation regarding the need for transfer to another care center, including related responsibilities.

Patient Responsibility

  1. Respect the health facility’s rules and regulations.

  2. Show consideration for others and treat fellow patients and staff with respect.

  3. Respect the privacy and comfort of other patients.

  4. Provide complete and accurate information about your – Present complaints, Past illnesses, Previous hospitalizations & Known allergies.

  5. Follow the instructions given by the treating doctor.

  6. Provide your written General Consent for treatment at the health facility.

  7. Provide written informed consent before undergoing any procedure that requires it, after receiving all necessary information — including the benefits and possible risks.

  8. Take responsibility for any consequences resulting from refusing or not following the treatment plan after being informed.

  9. Avoid delays by scheduling your appointment at the reception as soon as advised by the doctor.

  10. Attend your appointment on time. If cancellation is needed, inform the reception at least 48 hours in advance.

  11. Respect the priority given to emergency cases.

  12. Follow all safety regulations, including the no-smoking policy, maintaining cleanliness, and practicing hand hygiene.

  13. Ensure that all financial obligations are settled promptly.

  14. Provide requested medical samples and attend scheduled medical checkups on time.

  15. Avoid bringing valuable personal belongings to the health center. The facility is not responsible for any damage or loss of such items.
